Color Symphony was born on a rainy week when I was confined to my quilting room, missing the vibrant buzz of city life. The bold vertical panels reminded me of skyscraper windows lit up at night — some vibrant and awake, others dim and restful. I used high-contrast black sashing to evoke the city’s midnight frame, letting the fabrics shine like neon through the darkness.
This quilt came together using scraps from different free quilting patterns I had experimented with over the years — a DIY collage of past projects and hopeful starts. The biggest challenge? Getting those tiny center squares to line up just right (oh, the unpicking…). But every stitch was worth it.
Ideal for anyone looking for a dramatic modern quilt pattern, “City Lights” is a celebration of color, energy, and the joy of creating something loud and beautiful in your own quilting corner.
